The Talking Machine

Hello there!
We're doing great - another blog within a month. But hey - we're in cruise mode and I'm being groovy.

I have to share this...I got some brownie points this week! "Mum-mum-mum," gets Mum's attention; "Dad-dee" get's Dad's and "Nan-na" just about had Dad's mum collapse. I tried Katelyn, but Cake is as good as I can manage right now. "Na!" has got Mum worried, but "Ta!" is okay! 'Bah' is good for 'Boo' and as for the rest? Watch this space :)

I am seriously into stacker boxes, a tiny plastic orange golf ball and smacking my head into the cot sides. Kicking my blankets off as soon as a try-hard parent puts one on is a huge game and when you take me out of the bath, I'll even tell the neighbours that I'm so not impressed. I can sob within seconds, have got the drama-like cry sussed and still get truck loads of smiles in return for one of mine! Life's great!

End of an era

Hello again...
I've done it! I've got sitting mastered. Mum realised that she'd plonk me on my stomach so I could get places and hardly ever on my butt! Now the best place to be is right beside the toy box.

My favourite thing to play with are the wipes - if the lid was childproof, the inventor did a haphazard job. It's easy to open - especially with my teeth :). At best I can get about 20 wipes out, at worst, just one - depending on whether my sister dobs me in or not. Otherwise, it's our stacking boxes and anything musical.

So, an end of an era! Sitting is groovy... On the topic of 'an end of an era'... My great grandad John Albert McKinnon died last week: 21/07/1907 - 13/11/2008. He was nearly 99.5 years old. Amazing! This meant I got my first trip on an aeroplane too: Wellington to Invercargill. Not bad - considering I was bound to Mum for what seemed like forever! I was the youngest of 8 great-grandkids of Great Grandad.

All up though, I'm good: 8,4kgs @ 9 months old, taller than average and I 'swim' across the floor - freestyle! Life's cruisie :). I love it!

I'm 8 Months Old

Hello! I'm on the move, have almost got sitting sussed and I do damage when I bite - Dad's been heard to call me a 'two-tooth' (once a farmer, always a farmer)!

My dad's probably got issues with the length of my hair, but Mum's not got any issues about how I sleep! She's loving the fact that I sleep right through the night now - after 7 months exactly. Mind you, I get heaps of exercise rolling, manoeuvring around and kicking like fury!

All up, I'm a happy camper. I sleep for 2-3 hours every 2.5 or so hours during the day, love my food and haven't yet objected to any flavour or consistency. I drink out of a straw-in-a-cup (when my sister actually lets me have it) and am only on formula when Mum takes off for a day or so with her work.

Life's great from my point of view! Check out Katelyn's Blog and our photo sites for more.

Six Weeks Old...

I'm honestly the same guy as the one in the first entry here (and the banner above) - truly! Hard to fathom, as Mum agrees. Those cow-licks (thanks Dad) are - granted, the only thing left that's obvious in both pictures. Funny eh? For those of you who love stats, just as I turned 6 weeks old, I was 5.67kgs / 12.8lbs. Tough to imagine what I'll be like at 3 months old, as that's when my sister reached this 5kg mark - tho' a cousin of mine (Sophie) was my size now, at 6 months!

Mum was celebrating this morning. I had had the longest sleep I've ever had in my entire life, last night. Six hours! Mind you, I think it was more like I was drunk and in a coma... Otherwise, I'm smiling now, but you can't blink, or you'll miss it. I'm lifting my head up too, though I'm done with face-planting my nose onto Mum's collar bone when it suddenly gets too heavy!

All up, I'm generally a happy guy: haven't been too seriously mauled by my sister or too overly stimulated by my parents - yet? I've just got to learn how to undo my fist when I've a fistful of my own hair though - but meanwhile, I'll cry like there's no tomorrow (which somehow just makes me yank even harder) til my near-rigid fingers are pried off. Cor, it's a tough life sometimes! Okay...next pic and entry? When I give a smile long enough for it to be captured...! Til then, (though catch up on my sister's blog too) over and out! Love Jakob

I'm Here!

Welcome to my world!
I'm Jakob Donovan Gibson
DOB: 28 January 2008
Weight: 4.780kgs (10.6lbs)
Location: Masterton, NZ

I made it and I'm doing great. I'm very 'bonnie' say most people and so much so, that the midwives were testing me for diabetes within the first few hours of my independence - but I passed the tests and Mum relaxed! If I'm not looking like Dad, I'm looking like his brother/my uncle Andy, or Katelyn!

Mum's describing me as a cruisie baby and doesn't even seem to mind the midnight feeds and the grunting I'm sooo into doing. She doesn't like the way I gag a bit though - just out of the blue. Nor does she care much for the heat spots I'm getting - but hey...it's hot and muggy and a body's gotta do what a body's gotta do... However, she loves not having to burp me - I fart heaps instead!

Big sister Katelyn and I are happy campers - she's smitten with me and if it wasn't for her acute hearing, I'd be exercising my lungs beyond the point of reasonable sometimes! We cuddle up heaps, she kisses me like there's no tomorrow and practices her body part knowledge on me...ever so gently. We're cool...:)

So, that's life so far!
One day I'll be my Dad's hunting partner - so watch this space.
I'm two days old in the pic above and as of this first entry into this blog, I'm two weeks old!

Now, if you haven't done so already, you can also catch up on what my sister's up to. See HER BLOG. Click here...
